Watching for Mallards

30 X 40
ACrylic + Raw Canvas

"Watching for Mallards" is inspired by quiet mornings spent watching mallards drift across ponds and wetlands. Long before birdwatching had a name, it was simply a reason to wander, to pay attention, and to enjoy the gentle rhythm of the natural world.

Constructed from hand-stitched pieces of raw canvas and painted with acrylic, the work draws on the colors of marshland, water, and early light. It celebrates stillness, curiosity, and the kind of contentment found in unhurried moments spent noticing what has been there all along.
